Are your teenage sad or depressed most of the time? Has it ever happened that you call your teenage, and they get angry at you without any reason? If this is happening, you should be careful because your teenage may be worried about something. In today’s times, the main reason for teenagers’ and youngsters’ sadness and depression is social media addiction, which strongly affects Social Media and Teen Mental Health in daily life.

Social media is a platform where teenagers and youngsters openly live their lives, and this directly influences Social Media and Teen Mental Health because the online world often shapes how they want to appear in real life. Some teenagers and youngsters are very calm in reality, but their style on social media is completely different and mischievous.

The internet is a medium that gives teenagers and youngsters the freedom to watch all types of videos and chat with unknown people, often without their parents’ knowledge. People of all ages use social media, but why does most of the harm occur only to teenagers and youngsters? This is where Social Media and Teen Mental Health become closely connected. I will briefly discuss this today, so read this blog carefully.

Social Media and Teen Mental Health: Addiction or Opportunity?

About 98% of the world’s teenagers and youngsters use the internet, most of whom are engaged with social media platforms. Social Media and Teen Mental Health have become a serious concern today, as excessive use of these platforms can lead to anxiety, depression, and emotional stress. Social media has become a type of mental health addiction for teenagers and youngsters.

There are some people in the world who upload all their photos on social media—from the time they wake up in the morning to the time they go to sleep at night. Some girls spend less time in the real world and more time in the world of Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok, which is why they are often called “social butterflies.” I believe that girls spend more time on social media sites than boys. Now, you may ask, “Is using social sites or uploading photos and videos on them a bad thing?” To this, I would say, “Absolutely not.”

Many people around the world become famous overnight and earn a lot of money by uploading photos and videos on social media. Some use the internet as a platform to earn money online, which is not a bad thing.

Maybe you agree with me, or maybe you don’t, but I firmly believe that in today’s time, the internet and social media have become a serious addiction for teenagers and youngsters—one without which they may struggle to live in the future.

I believe that the Internet is a platform that provides us with information instantly, but do you know that this platform also becomes the reason for someone’s mental breakdown every day? Perhaps you do not know that many people in the world are ruined only because of the Internet.

In today’s time, most people are obsessed with making their reels and shorts go viral on the internet. It has reached a point where if a person is dying in an accident or someone is committing suicide, instead of saving them, people make a video and upload it onto the internet and silently praying that the video goes viral.

There are some teenagers and youngsters in the world who upload their photos on social media sites and then check every minute to see how many likes their photos have received. If, for some reason, their photos get fewer likes, they become mentally disturbed and wonder why people do not like their photos.

Most of the girls who get disturbed due to fewer likes on their photos or selfies are those who spend most of their time only on social media. They think, “Other girls’ photos get more likes, while my photos are even better than theirs. Still, why don’t people like my photos?” Girls with such a mindset are always upset, which is not a good thing.

The Dark Reality of social media: How the Obsession with Likes & Virality is Destroying Lives:

There are some creators who make beautiful videos with very good content compared to others, but still, their videos do not go viral, causing them to remain mentally disturbed all the time. Social Media and Teen Mental Health issues become especially visible when teenagers obsess over likes and views.

The limit is reached when some teenagers and young girls, in order to get more likes, make reels or shorts wearing clothes that attract people by revealing certain parts of their bodies. Those girls who gain attention by showing their bodies probably do not realize that when such photos are misused on the Internet, their lives—and their families’ lives—become hell. (CDC)

Why Do Youngsters and Teenagers Suffer the Most from Social Media?

Although people of all ages suffer from the internet in various ways—some become victims of online fraud, while others unknowingly upload fake videos on social media, spreading rumours unnecessarily—teenagers and youngsters are particularly vulnerable. They adopt various tricks to make their videos go viral, sometimes even risking their lives in the process. Teenagers often lack patience, which is why, when they put in hard work to create a viral video or reel and it does not go viral, they become depressed.

Today’s teenagers and youngsters desire instant success with minimal effort, which is not only difficult but nearly impossible to achieve. Those who feel depressed when their video doesn’t go viral fail to understand that luck plays a significant role in online success. They need to realize that they are not alone in creating content; millions of people worldwide are producing high-quality videos with superior clarity and professional editing, making the competition even tougher.

Final Thoughts:

Teenagers and youngsters worldwide believe that by creating videos on different topics, they will gain instant fame and wealth. If you think this way, you are absolutely mistaken. Take the time to understand the hard work and dedication of successful content creators who have built their reputations online.

For those who dream of becoming millionaires overnight by investing in online gambling sites, I have only one piece of advice: stop now, or you will face financial ruin very soon.

To the girls who feel disappointed by the number of likes on their photos, I just want to say—rather than seeking validation from strangers, focus on the people who truly care about you, such as your parents, boyfriend, husband, friends, or other family members.

I am sure you have never met most of the people who like your photos on social media. If you give importance to the likes or dislikes of people you have never met, then there is no bigger fool than you in the entire world.
