People talk about ghosts and evil spirits and say they have seen them, but there was a time when I didn’t believe any of this.
This Dumas Beach haunted story is based on a terrifying experience that completely changed my perspective.
I went to visit some friends in Surat, Gujarat, one of the most prosperous states of India. Surat is also called the “Diamond City.” I was simply mesmerized by the cleanliness and beauty of the city.
The friends who picked me up at the railway station took me sightseeing and treated me to delicious local cuisine.

One friend mentioned a beautiful beach in Surat called Dumas Beach; while there are other beaches in the city, Dumas is the most popular one.
In the evening, we all decided to visit Dumas Beach. We were excited, but a few hours later, the excitement turned into a terrifying experience that I can never forget.
So, let me share an incident that occurred during my visit to Dumas Beach, an event that left me completely shaken.

My Dumas Beach Haunted Story Begins
We friends started for Dumas Beach at about 5 p.m. It was Sunday, and the road leading to the beach was too crowded. It seemed that most of the city’s residents were going for an outing.
There were numerous food stalls near the beach. Before reaching the shore, we stopped to eat some bhajiyas (fritters) from these stalls, which were absolutely delicious.
After enjoying the bhajiyas, we parked our car and walked towards Dumas Beach. The place was teeming with people.
We stopped abruptly after walking a short distance; my friends pointed to a large statue and told me that this marked the beginning of Dumas Beach.

The statue was of a demon, erected at the entrance to the beach. It was made of scrap materials and cold drink cans.
The statue did not appear to be particularly scary, but it did have a very strange look. But there is no doubt that it must look quite scary at night.
We all went to the beach and had a great time. There is a temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha near the shore, where we went to offer our prayers. The view of the setting sun from the temple was absolutely stunning.
We all took photos along the Dumas seafront. It was 7 PM, and darkness was gradually setting in. As the sun went down, the people there began heading home; it seemed as though everyone was in a rush to leave Dumas Beach.
The weather was lovely, and there were strong winds blowing on the beach. Soon, it started to rain, and the atmosphere became even more beautiful.
Shortly after that, some police officers came and asked us to leave the beach and go home.
One of my friends checked his watch and shouted, “It’s almost 8 o’clock! Everyone, let’s get out of here quickly.
By the time we left, Dumas Beach had become completely deserted. Only a handful of people were visible, starting their vehicles to head back home.

My friend and I set off in the car for Surat city. It isn’t as if the area around Dumas Beach is uninhabited; the beach is actually located near a village called Dumas, where many people live.
My friend began driving very fast. When I asked him why, he said that Dumas Beach is a haunted place, so it would be safest to leave as quickly as possible.
I burst out laughing at what my friend said. I thought he was joking, but then my other friends told me that people don’t stay there after 8 PM because the place is said to be teeming with ghosts and spirits.
It isn’t that no one lives near Dumas Beach; it is situated close to the village of Dumas, which has a significant population.
Dumas Beach felt completely desolate and eerie, though I didn’t see anything that looked like a haunt for ghosts or spirits.

Suddenly, our car developed a fault and stalled. We all got out and looked around. My eyes fell upon the demon statue installed at the entrance of Dumas Beach; now, the figure looked incredibly terrifying and sinister to me.
Thick darkness surrounded us. All the nearby shops were closed. The streetlights were flickering on and off, and the rain showed no signs of stopping.
Suddenly, a man arrived on a motorcycle. Seeing our car stalled, he informed us that a mechanic lived in the nearby village of Dumas.
I requested the man to give me a ride on his motorcycle to Dumas village. Fortunately, he immediately agreed and asked me to hop on.
I climbed on the back of the motorcycle, and we rode toward the village of Dumas. It was all brush on either side of us, and the road was deserted. There was a church along the way, and the man stopped the motorcycle near it.
He told me that the stretch of road between the church and Dumas village was considered haunted, meaning people claimed to have seen ghosts and spirits there, so I shouldn’t be alarmed.
👉 This chilling journey reminded me of another haunted motorcycle ride in Darjeeling, where an ordinary ride turned into a terrifying ghost encounter.

The road was truly eerie. It was 10 PM, and it was raining heavily. The man started the motorcycle, and we proceeded towards Dumas village. On one side of the road lay a dense forest that looked incredibly frightening and sinister.
Suddenly, I looked towards the forest and saw something. I looked closer and saw someone standing behind a tree in pink or white clothes. I couldn’t exactly tell the color, but I knew someone was standing there.
The person sped the motorcycle towards Dumas village. When I looked back, someone was standing right in the middle of the road.
I couldn’t see clearly due to the rain, but I guessed it was a girl based on her loose, flowing hair.
As I sat on the motorcycle, constantly looking back, we suddenly hit a pothole; the bike skidded and fell to the ground.
I injured my legs in the fall. The rain was coming harder now. The rider did not get up at all. It was as if he were unconscious.
I checked my watch, but it had stopped working. I rushed over to the person and helped him up; he had sustained significant injuries.

The heavy rain and pitch darkness made the road look even more menacing. I took out my mobile phone, but it too was dead.
Suddenly, my gaze fell upon the forest ahead. I spotted something that looked like a graveyard.
I was studying the graveyard when I saw something odd in the brush behind it. It looked as though someone was walking there. I suddenly began to sense a negative energy around me.
Overcome with fear, I quickly helped the person onto the motorcycle and sped off towards Dumas village. I continued to feel that strange, negative energy until we finally reached the village.
Why did I experience such a sensation only on that particular road? What was that thing I saw in the bushes behind the graveyard? Who was the person I saw on the road, a boy or a girl? Had I seen a ghost, or was it merely a figment of my imagination?
After reaching Dumas village, I looked for a mechanic but couldn’t find one. Suddenly, I spotted my friends’ car arriving in the village. Relieved and happy, I thanked the person who had given me the motorcycle ride and got into the car.
We set off for Surat city, but the route we took was completely different from the one I had used to reach Dumas village on the motorcycle.
My injured legs were throbbing with pain. It was nearly midnight.
Before long, we emerged from that eerie area near Dumas Beach and reached Surat city. Even today, whenever I look at fun photographs from Dumas Beach, I am reminded of that terrifying incident from that night.
I visited Dumas Beach many times after that, but only during the day, never at night.
Even today, this Dumas Beach haunted story remains one of the most terrifying experiences of my life.
