I will tell you about the most popular story among the many stories about Bhangarh Fort, which we got to know from the local people here.

There was a Tantrik named “Singhia” who was an expert in black magic. One day, Singhia saw Bhangarh’s princess Ratnavati. Seeing Ratnavati’s beauty, Singhia starts getting attracted towards her. Singhia decided in his mind that he would do anything to trap Princess Ratnavati in his love trap. In his desire to get Ratnavati, Singhia made a potion with black magic that would attract Ratnavati towards him. The princess came to know about Singhia’s plan beforehand and threw Singhia’s potion on the rocks located in Bhangarh fort. The rocks enchanted by the potion crushed Singhia badly and he died. Before dying, Singhia cursed Bhangarh that “this place should be desolate forever“.

After this incident, many invading armies captured the Bhangarh fort and the local people fled from there, leaving this prosperous Bhangarh fort in a deserted condition. The invading armies tried to build many buildings in Bhangarh, but due to the curse of Singhia, the roofs of all the buildings built here used to fall in a few days. The local people here also believe that no matter how big or small a building or temple a person builds here, its roof does not last long even today, the main reason for which is the curse given to this place by Singhia.
