Haunted Motorcycle Ride in Darjeeling – A True Ghost Story from the Hills

Haunted Motorcycle Ride in Darjeeling — this true story still gives me chills.

My wife and I went to Darjeeling for a trip, which is located in India. We landed at Bagdogra Airport, around 70 km away from Darjeeling. We had read on the internet that the real fun of visiting Darjeeling is riding a motorcycle.

After getting information from some local people at the airport, my wife and I went to a large shop located in front of the airport, where motorcycles were available for rent. The shopkeeper was surprised to see me because I had a heavy bag on my shoulder.

He not only gave us the keys to a motorcycle—a Royal Enfield—but also tied our heavy bag securely to the stand attached to the back of the bike.

When we were leaving with the motorcycle, the shopkeeper advised us that climbing the hills of Darjeeling with such a heavy bag was risky. I smiled and told him that I was used to riding a Royal Enfield, so he need not worry at all.

That moment marked the beginning of our Haunted Motorcycle Ride in Darjeeling.

My wife and I left for Darjeeling from Bagdogra. At first, there were no hills visible in the distance. After riding about 50 km on the highway, the hills slowly started to appear.

I turned to my wife and said, “Darling, Darjeeling doesn’t look like it’s at such a high altitude. Let’s stop here and click a few photos.” Little did we know this was part of our Haunted Motorcycle Ride in Darjeeling, which was about to turn eerie.

After saying this, I stopped the motorcycle near a big turn, from where Darjeeling was only 20 km away. It was 2 o’clock in the afternoon. I thought it would take just half an hour to cover the remaining distance, but I was wrong.

After taking some photos, I started the motorcycle and began riding up the hilly road.

There were so many turns on the steep slopes of Darjeeling that it took us almost half an hour to cover just 1 km.

As my wife and I rode our motorcycle along the deserted hill roads, our heartbeats quickened because on one side was a broken road and on the other, a deep ditch.

This was the most silent part of the Haunted Motorcycle Ride in Darjeeling.

The Haunted Motorcycle Ride in Darjeeling Turns Terrifying

Two hours passed, and the sky began to darken. We had forgotten how quickly it gets dark in the hills. By around 5 in the evening, the sky was completely dark. The roads became deserted, and almost no vehicles were moving.

My wife started getting scared because there were no streetlights on the road. There were no small villages or hotels along the way where we could stop and get some rest.

Strange sounds coming from the dense forests were scaring us on the deserted hilly roads. Due to the sudden sharp curve, I could not drive the motorcycle at high speed.

We could not see anything beyond where the motorcycle’s light was reaching. Our misfortune was that we could not turn back either. Due to the cold weather, my hands were trembling, and smoke was coming out of my mouth.

My wife was sitting quietly, with her eyes closed, hugging me, and was chanting God’s name in her mind. That stretch of the road truly made our Haunted Motorcycle Ride in Darjeeling unforgettable.

I was busy driving the motorcycle, looking ahead, when suddenly there was a sharp turn, and I applied the brakes hard. My wife got nervous and asked me the reason for applying the brakes.

Pointing my finger towards the road ahead, I told my wife, “Darling, there is a girl sitting in the middle of the road ahead.” When my wife looked ahead, she also got nervous.

A little girl was sitting on the road between the hilly areas. The girl had long hair and was about 15 or 16 years old. The girl was sitting, facing the opposite direction, so we could not see her face.

We could not understand why a girl would be sitting in the middle of such a deserted road, passing through the hilly forests.

I called out to the girl once or twice to move away from the road, but she kept sitting, with her face facing the opposite direction.

My wife refused to go ahead, but I did not feel right standing on this deserted road in the pitch dark of the night, so I started the motorcycle and began moving forward.

I drove my motorcycle at high speed past the girl and told my wife not to look back. This accident scared my wife and me a lot. We increased the speed of our motorcycle.

After about half an hour, I again applied the brakes to the motorcycle because a girl was lying in the middle of the road ahead. Looking carefully, I found that it was the same girl we had seen sitting on the road a while ago.

Suddenly, my wife, who was sitting behind me, started screaming loudly.

When I asked her the reason for screaming, she asked me to look behind her. When I looked back, I saw a girl sitting on the ground in the middle of the road.

On the road ahead of us, a girl was lying with her face covered by her hair, while behind us, another girl was sitting in the middle of the road with her face turned toward us.

Surviving the Haunted Motorcycle Ride in Darjeeling

My wife was screaming loudly, but we were in a deserted forest, and no one could hear us. I asked my wife to hold me tight, and then I drove the motorcycle forward at high speed.

The girl lying ahead did not stand up when she saw my motorcycle coming at high speed. My motorcycle passed over her body.

The bag tied to the rear stand of our motorcycle fell to the ground, but we were not concerned about it—only about our lives—so we didn’t stop to pick it up.

Somehow, we reached our hotel in Darjeeling. The staff there were also surprised to see us arriving at the hotel at night. The next day, when we went back to search for the bag, it was found on the road, but there was no girl there.

We asked many people in Darjeeling about the girls, but no one knew anything. I explained to my worried wife that perhaps what we saw was an illusion that must have arisen due to fear in the dark.

My wife agreed with this, but I know the scary incident was not an illusion but a reality. That night, our Haunted Motorcycle Ride in Darjeeling became a story we would remember forever.
